Toyota Teases Next-Gen Tacoma with Hybrid Powertrain

Toyota just dropped a teaser for the upcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma and it looks like it's going to be an amazing truck! The teaser shows off the truck's tailgate and right rear taillight, and confirms the pickup will once again be available in its TRD Pro guise. It also reveals the company's plan to offer the next-gen Taco with a hybrid powertrain.

As seen in the teaser, the next-gen Tacoma's rear-end design will largely mimic that of the full-size Tundra, with the two trucks sharing similar tailgate and taillight treatments. The "TRD Pro" stamping also confirms the most off-road-ready variant of today's Tacoma line is due to return. With Fox-branded shocks, a bevy of underbody skid plates, and improved ground clearance, approach, breakover, and departure angles, this truck is sure to stand out from the rest of the Tacoma line.

The powertrain of the 2024 Tacoma has also been confirmed. Expect it to come courtesy of a gasoline-electric hybrid setup, as noted by the iForce Max badge pinned to the lower-right corner of the Tacoma in this teaser. We can only speculate the exact power output at the moment, but it is likely that the hybrid TRD Pro will be able to hold its own against the forthcoming Ford Ranger Raptor in the world of high-powered off-road-oriented mid-size pickups.

We can't wait to see the rest of this truck as it's sure to be a hit with off-road enthusiasts!
