The all-new Corvette Z06 is aiming to be the ultimate street-track car. Chevrolet has recently unveiled the car to the public, and it has been met with great enthusiasm. The new LT6 V-8 engine has been reworked with a flat-plane crankshaft, double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, and an 8500-rpm redline. The car produces 670-hp and has its own distinct sound that draws inspiration from an IndyCar engine.
On the road, the Z06 is a different animal from the base C8 Stingray. It has a firmer ride quality, bigger tires, and the engineers have tuned the suspension bushings, MagneRide dampers, and anti-roll bars to go together with the engine. Thanks to its new multimode exhaust system, each of the car's drive modes has its own exhaust note. And using the MyMode function you can dial up multiple levels of exhaust intensity from near silent in Stealth mode to a brain-scrambling scream in Track mode.
The Z07 package is available on either the targa or convertible, ups spring rates another 10 percent, substitutes Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 R ZP track tires, gets recalibrated MagneRide dampers, and adds carbon-ceramic brakes. The Z07 setup is adding the $9995 carbon-fiber wheels, which save a claimed 41 pounds and sharpen the steering response even further.
The all-new Corvette Z06 is a car that can go from the office to the race track with the flick of a switch. It is a car that is sure to appeal to those who want performance and comfort alike.
