Exciting news has emerged regarding the future of Toyota's popular Supra sports car! According to a reliable source within Toyota, the next-generation of the Supra, set to be revealed in 2025, will feature a battery-electric powertrain with e-motors at the rear axle. Performance wise, the high-powered EV is expected to have peak power of anywhere from 330-368kW, significantly more than the current GR Supra's 285kW from its turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six.
Before the electric Supra (dubbed the A100 Supra) is released, a high-performance GRMN version of the current-generation is due to be released in the next couple years, packing an impressive 405kW 'S58' engine.
Not only that, but the Supra EV could also spawn an electrified Mazda RX-7 successor, which has been linked to Toyota's GR product development program. The new sports car could be the mystery Gazoo Racing EV reportedly in development and could potentially be released as the much-hoped-for Mazda RX-9, featuring a plug-in hybrid rotary powertrain.
Stay tuned for more updates on the future of the Toyota Supra!
