After its announcement last year, England-based AC Cars has finally unveiled their modern take on the iconic Cobra. The Cobra GT Roadster looks unmistakably like the original model, but with some visual updates, an aluminum chassis and a Ford-sourced V8 engine rated at 654 horsepower.
It’s important to note that while the Cobra was made an icon on and off the track by Shelby, it was originally created in England by AC Cars. Some of the new updates to the roadster include LED lights, modern-looking door mirrors, twin exhaust tips integrated into a diffuser, and bigger wheels.
The Cobra GT Roadster accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and its top speed is 173 mph. It weighs about 3,100 pounds, and comes with ergonomically designed cabin, power-operated windows, climate control system and an infotainment system with navigation.
AC Cars will fully unveil the Cobra GT Roadster in April 2023 with first deliveries scheduled for 2024. Prices start at £285,000 (approximately $342,000). There is no word yet as to whether it will be sold in the United States.
