Today we remember the dearly departed Ken Block and his daughter Lia, who will be racing in the American Rally Association Championship this 2023 racing season with a Subaru BRZ outfitted with a special livery inspired by her father.
Ken Block was a racing legend, and this livery will be extra special for Lia, as it is inspired by the first ever livery her father created in 2005. The white, gray, and gold design is known as the "snow-camo" design and Lia is excited to be racing in a RWD car, as it will be her first time – having previously raced a FWD Ford Fiesta.
The announcement of her livery has garnered a warm response from those close to Ken Block, such as his long-time collaborator Brian Scotto, who wrote, "This Livery will always be extra special to me as I first met your mom and dad on @gumball3000 traveling in the Snow Camo STI together. Love seeing you rock it now! Your dad would be so proud."
Fellow Gymkhana driver Travis Pastrana also sported a snow-camo tribute livery in January for a Nitro Rallycross race in Quebec. Ford, meanwhile, added a Ken Block tribute sticker to every one of its race vehicles to start the 2023 racing season.
Lia Block wrote in an Instagram post, "This year is going to be a tough one. But I'm happy to be back doing what my dad loved and what I still love."
We honor the memory of Ken Block and send our best wishes to Lia as she competes in her first season of racing with her special tribute livery.
