NASCAR Xfinity Driver Parks Car On Track in Protest

In a move that has left many scratching their heads, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Josh Williams chose to leave his car on the front straight of Atlanta in response to being "parked" for the race due to car damage.

The decision to park Williams was due to damaged car parts leaving debris on the track- a common problem with damaged cars- and Williams' decision was a straightforward protest of the officiating decision. The No. 92 car was left directly in front of the officiating hauler while Williams waited inside to discuss the situation with officials.

Though Williams' move may lead to further punishment, the exact form of this punishment remains unclear as this is not a move with a lot of precedent. The race is still ongoing and should remain so until the conclusion of what has been a fairly long, caution-filled race.
