Are you dreaming of owning a supercar? We get it – they're sleek, sophisticated, and incredibly powerful. But let's not forget that these are not easy to come by, especially the top-tier supercars. So what are the most expensive ones on the market AND worth your money? Here's our top picks:
1. Porsche 918 Spyder: It was a statement of intent of how Porsche planned to use hybrid technology and was only made in 918 units. The base price was $845,000 but these days they're being sold in the millions.
2. Aston Martin Vulcan: It's an edgy and angry looking beast powered by an apoplectic naturally aspirated V12. 24 were built and you won't get one for less than $2.3 million!
3. Koenigsegg Agera RS: It was built in 25 units and for those with the couple of million dollars to buy one, an upgrade will bring the Agera RS up to 1,360 horsepower.
4. Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4: The third generation became the fastest street-legal production car in the world when it hit 267.8 mph in 2010. If a roof-off 250+ mph experience is what you're after, then you'll want the 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse SE model. It ended the Veyron's production run in 2015 at a price of $2.2 million.
5. Pagani Huayra: It was Horacio Pagani's difficult second solo album and only 100 were made. The base price was $1.1 million, but the latest BC track-focused version is going for around $2.3 million.
6. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento: 2,202 lbs of track-focused car driven by a 5.2-liter V10 and a power-to-weight ratio of 3.86 lbs per horsepower. For perspective, that's putting 562 horsepower into something that weighs close to the same as a fully loaded Fiat 500. Unfortunately, only 20 were made and don't expect much change from $3,000,000.
7. Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta: It uses the same mid-rear mounted 6.3-liter F140 V12 working with the Formula 1 based HY-KERS kinetic energy recapturing system. The price tag is $2.2 million, which is a full $1.2 million more than the original LaFerrari when it first sold in 2013.
8. Koenigsegg Regera: Its drivetrain is based around a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that pushes out 1,100 horsepower and the price tag is $2.2 million.
9. McLaren P1: It was one of the "Holy Trinity" of hybrid hypercars and originally sold for $1,350,000 but now you'd have to check your bank account for around $2.0 million.
10. Ferrari F60 America: Limited production run of 10 roadster derivatives of the F12berlinetta to commemorate 60 years of Ferrari in North America. The 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 is surprisingly strong and all ten were sold before they were built at around $2.5 million each.
11. Bugatti Chiron: It's the successor to the Veyron and the first 200 Chiron models to roll out of the factory sold for $2.7 million each before they were made.
12. W Motors Lykan HyperSport: It's the first Arabic supercar and has a mid-rear mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 boxer engine that develops 780 horsepower. It's going for around $3.4 million.
So if you want to get your hands on one of these top-tier supercars, be prepared to pull out your wallet!
