Manhart Unveils New Carbon Fiber Body Kit for BMW X5 M50d

It has been nearly three years since BMW said goodbye to its quad-turbo X5 M50d, but Manhart has not forgotten about this diesel monster. The performance enthusiasts at Manhart have fitted the SUV with a custom body kit from Larte Design. This kit features a carbon fiber hood with dual vents, a carbon fiber frame around the kidney grille, side skirts, rear spoiler, and a diffuser. To complete the look, Manhart also blacked out the exhaust tips and fitted 23-inch wheels with 315/25 ZR23 tires. In addition to the aggressive aesthetic, Manhart also improved the performance of the 3.0-liter engine. With a MHtronik auxiliary control unit the engine now produces 465 hp and 870 Nm (642 lb-ft) of torque. Though Manhart has not disclosed the exact performance gains, they are certain that it is faster than the regular X5 M50d, which can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Although the X5 M50d has been discontinued for some time now, you can still find a quad-turbodiesel engine in the form of the newly facelifted ALPINA XD3 and XD4.
