Hyundai has just released its brand new 2024 Sonata ahead of a full reveal at the Seoul Mobility Show on March 30. We can expect the car to hit Australian roads during the second half of 2023.
The Sonata has adopted the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language, giving it a unique, aggressive, and futuristic look. It features a front LED light bar that is dubbed the ‘Seamless Horizon Lamp’, and headlight clusters that are separated and further down from the daytime running light strip. There is a full-width tail light bar at the rear, as well as a range of other design changes designed to emphasise the Sonata’s “high-tech image”. For the N Line trim, there is also a ducktail-type spoiler lip, as well as quad-tipped exhaust treatment, and new alloy wheel designs up to 19 inches in diameter.
The inside has had a significant facelift too, with horizontal design theme and dual 12.3-inch displays that are combined in the one curved housing. There is a new steering wheel with the brand’s new dotted logo design, a column-type shift-by-wire selector, and a new cupholder and tray unit in the centre console. The centre console also features a palm rest that enhances comfort.
It’s expected that the Sonata will also bring new features and technologies like over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and augmented reality (AR) navigation. Drivetrains are expected to be updated versions of the existing set, including a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo, a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol, a 1.6-litre petrol-electric hybrid, as well as the N Line’s 213kW/422Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged four.
