The Mercedes-AMG One has done it again! This F1-engined hypercar has broken yet another lap record – this time at the Monza track. It took factory driver Maro René Engel only 1 minute and 43.902 seconds to complete the lap, 12 seconds faster than the 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS!
The electrified beast was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tires and performed the lap in road-legal specification. Despite the impressive result, Mercedes-AMG hasn't released footage of the record-breaking run yet.
The Valkyrie is the only car we can think of that has a real shot of dethroning the AMG One, but Aston Martin hasn't tried to set new track records yet. With the One's intricate 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine and four electric motors producing a combined 1,048 horsepower, neck-twisting acceleration (0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 0-124 mph in 7 seconds) and top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h), it's no wonder it reigns supreme.
The One is capped at just 275 cars and is being hand-assembled at Mercedes-AMG's facility in Coventry, UK. The hybrid powertrain comes from the Mercedes‑AMG High Performance Powertrains division in Brixworth. Each car goes through 16 assembly and testing stations, so it's no surprise they perform so well out on the track!
